HUBS The Stage
Fake News is becoming the norm online. Add in influencers with their picture perfect, unrealistic lives, it’s not surprising it’s tough for kids to know what’s real and what’s not.
Now it’s harder than ever for kids to find the truth and it’s shaping an entire generation, as they lean away from the traditional mediated news outlets in favour of news online. In a world where young people are making headlines by challenging decision makers, how can we best give young audiences the education and skills they need to be able to navigate truth and lies?
The session will explore new approaches to media literacy through entertainment, and new initiatives from Newsround, Sky Kids News as well as classroom education to look at how we can do more to help a young audience understand the truth behind the headlines.
