The UK theatre industry is widely regarded as being the best in the world and there is a huge wealth of original work for children and young audiences being created by UK theatre makers. The research, development, production and audience testing is funded by Arts Council and the resulting shows, characters and stories then tour extensively in the UK and across the world to the “front line”, meeting and interacting directly with its audiences. And much of it is ripe for development and transfer for other mediums and platforms – for TV, games and the internet – without having to go through a high risk and expensive development process.
This session will introduce some of the most brilliant and successful creators of this work and present a case study for how this approach has worked successfully for the BBC. Delegates will also get insight on how to find/connect with this work and hear from a senior broadcast executive in support of this approach.
