Recent projections for the take up of connected TV suggest there will be 37 million sets installed in homes across the UK by 2013. Then there are the IP enabled set top boxes like YouView coming down the track – not to mention Sky and Virgin’s own label IP boxes. And at the same time the tech press are getting very excited by a new breed of companion apps for your smart phones that enhance what you’re watching. Is this beginning of a new era in interactive telly? And if so where are the kids, who are the natural early adopters of this stuff?

This panel will be run in two halves:

Part 1 examines how connected devices are anticipated to change the living room dynamics but with a critical look about how the economics are dictating what ideas broadcasters can actual run with and what this may mean for the kids sector.
Part 2 looks at how mobile handset technologies are offering alternative here-and-now solutions that might create that same enhanced TV moment around individual shows.
