This presentation considers what happens to 3-16 year olds physically, mentally and emotionally as a result of their increased use of digital media and explores the role of play in child development and family life in 2015. Two very recent reports produced by FK&Y illustrate this. The Play Report 2015, on behalf of IKEA, interviewed over 16,000 parents and over 13,000 children and young people in 12 countries. The Use of the Internet Survey for education charity Techknowledge for Schools interviewed over 7,000 children and young people in the UK about their use of the internet.
