What does it involve to take an idea from its inception and make it work in a multitude of media? To write the book and own the Intellectual Property is but the first stage on a long and sometimes fruitless journey that involves creating treatments, giving presentations, selling rights, writing scripts, buying ink cartridges, fictionalising budgets, instigating castings, interpreting script editors, directing voice-overs, scrutinising storyboards, checking roughs, dubbing, editing, and undertaking the most alien of all of these processes – PR.

For thirty years, Jamie Rix has worked as a comedy producer in both radio and television, working on such shows as Radio Active, Smith and Jones and Not Going Out. He also writes children’s books, and set up his own production company (initially Elephant Productions and now Little Brother Productions) so that he could produce adaptations of his own books for television. His successes include Grizzly Tales and The Revenge Files of Alistair Fury.
