Podcasts are becoming very popular amongst children. They are thought of as a real antidote to children’s screen time: there is arguably less guilt from parents, and much wholesome stretching for young imaginations. Listeners are hungry for content that inspires them to stay tuned, whether fact or fiction, and the world of audio needs to figure out creative ways to connect with them as they travel through life – at school, on long-distance car journeys, at the dinner table with family, or in ear buds as a bedroom-listen.

This session will explore many aspects of this exciting, evolving area of children’s media: Content that works for different age groups, the production process, the psychological benefits of listening, how children can easily find appropriate podcast content, and predictions for children’s audio in the future.
