Rapid advancements in AI have profound implications for how our children will interface with technology. From social emotional robots to voice interface, this and future generations are going to grow up with a profoundly different relationship to technology. This in turn has implications not just on designing these new digital experiences but also opens up an array of questions surrounding ethical and privacy issues. What can media brands learn and observe about child behaviour and language but also what do they have the right to learn? How ready are we to tackle these challenges? To paraphrase Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park: “…Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, that they didn’t stop to think if they should.”
Including an exclusive video from the Personal Robotics Group at MIT relating to their research into how children will engage with socially intelligent robots.
