Richard has nearly two decades’ experience analysing the film and TV content markets – initially within home entertainment retail strategy and then as an industry analyst for the past 16 years. He advises a broad range of clients, from the Hollywood studios, broadcasters, pay TV operators, regulators to investment firms on the development of media and the entertainment business.
As Research Director at Ampere Analysis, Richard has worked across all our key insight products and is directly responsible for the Commissioning service and the Analytics metadata teams. Prior to this role he managed the digital & home entertainment insight teams at the media group IHS Markit (previously Screen Digest). Richard has been instrumental in overseeing a significant number of new film and TV focused products and services over the last two decades. These include several content tracking services alongside more traditional research products. Richard is an expert in data forecasting and modelling and has created analysis tools focused on VoD services, including Netflix, Amazon Prime, and recently launched US studio services, alongside pay TV tracking and forecasting models for international pay TV providers.
Richard has led a large number of custom consulting projects for senior stakeholders in a wide selection of blue-chip organisations. He is frequently quoted in national, international and trade press including The Guardian, The Financial Times, Variety, Broadcast and Screen International. He is also a regular speaker at UK and international content-related conferences and has made numerous radio and TV appearances.
