Professor of Media Ethics
John Oates, Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the Open University, is a member of the British Psychological Society’s Ethics Committee, chairs the Society’s Research Ethics Reference Group, established the Society’s Media Ethics Advisory Group and led the production of the BPS ethics guidance to psychologists working with media. John has worked with Ofcom and the English and Scottish governments on regulations and guidance safeguarding children in performances. He is a Trustee of the Council of the Association for Research Ethics.
