Content strategist, commissioner, former BBC broadcaster and Def Jam recording artist – Mark Strippel has been at the forefront of audio-visual content for young audiences for the past two decades.
As the Head of BBC Radio 1Xtra Mark shaped one of the most culturally-relevant and influential platforms for 15-24’s. A champion for new talent, Mark was responsible for early signings of Maya Jama, Big Zuu, Harpz Kaur, Reece Parkinson and Guz Khan to the BBC. He was part of the commissioning team for BBC Three’s Rap Game UK and relaunched the legendary Radio 1 Rap Show with the signing of Tiffany Calver. Under his leadership BBC Radio 1Xtra grew to reach 2m+ weekly users and more than 1.3m YouTube subscribers.
Mark grew up on a council estate in Hounslow, West London. After a 15 year career in the BBC Mark has now set up his own consultancy and is currently working with BBC Sounds and Sony Music.
