Creator / Writer on 'So Awkward'
After a stint as a Production Assistant, Julie went on to write on open door sketch shows for BBC Radio 4 and BBC Online. Her radio sitcom, ’49 Cedar Street’, was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 2011.
Her first short film received British Council funding and this and subsequent shorts have been screened at festivals worldwide, including LA Comedy Shorts, Soho Rushes, CoFilmic and BAFTA.
In 2013 she had a script commissioned as part of BBC3’s ‘Funny on Three’ Initiative.
She has written for Disney’s ‘Evermoor’ for Lime Pictures and is currently working on series 3 of ‘So Awkward’.

In the year Katniss Everdeen was dominant on posters all around the country for the last ‘Hunger Games’ film, we have been shown that strong female characters can be dominant in media for young people. However we have also been asking #wheresrey which has shown that gender prejudice can still be ingrained in the industry’s thinking.
