Cookie Jar has an extensive library of 6,500 half-hour episodes for kids & families, including classics like Paddington, Arthur, Inspector Gadget, and an on-going content development and production business which is currently delivering two live action teen series (Mudpit and Debra) and new episodes of animated series Arthur for PBS and Johnny Test for Cartoon network. John joined Cookie Jar in April 2011 to work on sales of new and catalogue shows as well as on co-productions. In the latter role he secures co-production partners for Cookie Jar shows, but also seeks interesting kids / family properties where Cookie Jar could step in as a co-producer and help on the funding / creative.

John’s first experience with children’s content was at BBC Worldwide whose German subsidiary he created, handling all rights to properties including Noddy, Wallace & Gromit, and Teletubbies. Subsequently he helped finance many BBC Children’s titles such as The Chronicles of Narnia and Dr. Who, in his role as BBCW’s first Head of Investment & Ops. He joined HIT Entertainment as SVP Global Distribution just as Bob the Builder was being developed, and managed the international roll-out of Bob the Builder, Thomas the Tank Engine, Pingu, Barney, and Angelina Ballerina. John later ran the consumer products division of Super RTL, Germany’s #1 kids’ channel, winning several LIMA awards for his team’s work on Spongebob Squarepants, Blue’s Clues, Tiny Planets, The Koala Brothers, and Backyard Science. Most recently as an independent he advised producers, content companies and investors including Red Kite Animation, MTV Networks, The Welsh IP fund, and Northwest Vision+Media, on content development, contract negotiation, rights exploitation, and project investment.
