As Director of BBC Children’s (since 2009) Joe heads the world’s leading producer and broadcaster of public service children’s content and the UK’s most successful children’s TV channels – CBBC & CBeebies. Joe joined the BBC Children’s Programmes department as a Trainee Assistant Producer in 1989 and in the following 11 years worked on shows including Blue Peter, Going Live and Record Breakers. In 2000 he moved to Nickelodeon UK, returning to the BBC in 2005 as Head of Children’s Entertainment. In 2009 he took up his current post as Director of Children’s and in 2011 led the move of the entire Children’s department to its new home at MediaCityUK in Salford.
