Jo is a highly experienced qualitative and quantitative researcher who has focussed on researching children, young people and families for 23 years. Jo has worked extensively within the media sector as well as providing research within commercial, sporting, public and charitable organisations. Jo is a regular speaker at the Children’s Media Conference as well as other industry events where she has shared research papers on gender stereotypes in children, understanding boys, engaging content, the ‘real’ picture of kids in the UK and emerging trends in the kid’s market.
Jo’s passion lies in exploring the detailed, real life experiences of families and children and using this insight to educate and guide organisations in their strategy. In 2005., Jo set up Platypus Research, a specialist child, youth and family research agency. Platypus’ aim is to inspire organisations to create positive change through inclusive research that represents the real lives and experiences of children and families from all backgrounds.
