Wednesday Workshop: Wear and Tear
With the futuristic vision of connected toys and wearable technology now becoming a reality, what does that mean for tomorrow's media producers? In this workshop we explore how 3D printing could change how we model kids' characters in the future and distribute toys as kits of parts; how games are increasingly merging virtual with real play and how tomorrow's apparel will be more than a cheap branded T-shirt. If Licensing & Merchandising is part of your business plan then you can't afford to miss this.
Games and product designers, robotics engineers, artists, film makers and researchers worked together at the REACT project in Bristol to create six prototypes of innovative, new play products for kids. They worked with a group of young people between the ages of eight and twelve to explore the future of products and services for children. The resulting six prototypes comprise board games, robot toys, Apps, dens and playgrounds in thoughtful and surprising ways. Come and play with the prototypes at the Play Sandbox stand in the HUBS and then at this session hear what they learned about partnering with children…
