James Charlton

The Advertising Association

James is a politics graduate who has worked in the parliamentary offices of two Government ministers, and as a lobbyist for the advertising industry. He is now a consultant to the Advertising Association, on issues around advertising to children and the digital sector. He worked on the industry’s contribution to the Department for Education’s Bailey review and helped to launch, a website that puts all the rules around communicating with children under one roof. James is also training to be a journalist, and has spent time in the Parliamentary Press Gallery. He blogs at and, writes about advertising at and tweets at @jamescharlo.
