Irene Weibel is Vice President, Head of Nelvana Studio at Corus Entertainment. In her current role, Weibel serves as Executive Producer on all series produced in the Nelvana Studio in Toronto and co-produced around the world. She also manages the development slate for the studio. Weibel has served as the Executive in Charge of Production for many shows including Babar and the Adventures of Badou, Franklin and Friends, The Detentionaire and the Gemini Award winning Hot Wheels: Battle Force Five. Before joining Nelvana in 1999, Weibel’s career was focused on public broadcasting. Weibel’s 15 plus year tenure in public television included stints at KCET, Los Angeles, WGBY, Springfield and as Vice President of National Sponsorship at WGBH, Boston. Weibel holds a Masters Degree in Journalism from Southern Illinois University and a J.D. from Western New England College of Law. Weibel splits her time between Los Angeles and Nelvana’s headquarters in Toronto. Corus Entertainment creates engaging branded entertainment experiences for its audiences across multiple platform and includes ownership of the Nelvana Studio and broadcasters YTV, Treehouse and Teletoon in Canada.
