Hoho Entertainment, a production and rights management company, was co-founded by Helen Howells & Oliver Ellis to develop, finance and produce children’s properties, designed to be seen and experienced on all media platforms.

Helen is a highly skilled entertainment professional with a wealth of creative and commercial experience across a number of disciplines: TV, DVD, Licensing and Merchandising, Sales and Marketing, Creative Development and Production Financing.

She began her career with S4C International, the commercial arm of the Welsh 4th broadcast channel, where she worked on classic children’s shows such as Fireman Sam and SuperTed, along with high quality documentaries such as Egypt, The Celts and The History of the Papacy. She was also responsible for running the company’s UK DVD label.

She then joined US entertainment company, 4 Kids Entertainment as Director of International Licensing and latterly became Commercial Director. During this time she worked on hit shows Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles among others.

In 2004 she joined Target Entertainment to set up the company’s licensing and merchandising division following the acquisition of Fifi and the Flowertots and was instrumental in helping to secure Fifi’s place as the UK’s number one pre-school show for girls.

After 6 years with the company, Helen was promoted to Commercial Director and given the brief to commercially drive the company’s brands (particularly children’s) by devising 360 degree rights exploitation strategies for properties, across all platforms and media globally. She was also responsible for the appointment of Target by Sony PlayStation as licensing agent for their game IP’s and core brand in the EMEA territories.
