Hey, I’m Erin Sharp. I love animation and I live in Dublin, in Ireland. I’ve just turned 14-years-old and I am a lesbian. I wanted to investigate the effects and process behind representation in children’s TV. This issue was bothering me and my queer friends for a long time both consciously and subconsciously. I will never forget the day I had just seen a kids show called She-Ra. This was life changing for me and this was the first time I had truly seen myself expressed on screen. You never really know how important it is until that happens. I realised how heartwarming it was to see a part of my identity so beautifully illustrated. I feel we can really make a change in society’s attitudes to what they feel they can present on screen, so we did a Young Scientist’s Project in Ireland to discover more.
