Pins and Needles Productions is an award-winning, female-led theatre company in Bristol making imaginative theatre for all ages. Funded by the Arts Council Covid Emergency fund, they produced an interactive theatrical adventure film for children, with multiple actors in Lockdown, in 72 hours. They released this as a VOD experience in May 2020 and are now in discussions to develop further interactive films for children.

Emma Earle is Co-Artistic Director of Pins and Needles, alongside Zoe Squire. Emma trained at the National Theatre Studio, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and Exeter University.

Pins and Needles Productions are well known for bold and imaginative adaptations of children’s books.  Their most recent show ‘Oi Frog and Friends!’ produced by Kenny Wax Family Entertainment, has been nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Family Show 2020.  In 2018, they won the UK Theatre award for Best Show for Children and Young People for ‘Little Mermaid’, co-produced with the egg, Theatre Royal Bath.

Pins and Needles aim to work as collaboratively as possible, and work with a diverse range of artists. From actors and animators, composers and lyricists, lighting and sound designers, to movement directors and projection mappers. Now they are embarking on a new journey exploring transmedia and interactivity for family audiences with new digital show, ‘Select A Quest’.
