Elaine Sperber

Head of Family and Children’s Drama

Elaine Sperber joined RDF as Head of Family and Children’s Drama in March 2006 to expand the company’s drama output across all audiences. She is currently Executive Producing the hit comedy Dani’s House with former Tracy Beaker star Dani Harmer for CBBC, and also recently did Sherlock Holmes and the Baker Street Irregulars, starring Jonathan Pryce, for BBC. She is currently developing numerous other drama projects for several broadcasters both in the UK and internationally.

Prior to taking up this post, she was Head of Drama at CBBC for over six years, where she executive produced more than 54 drama series – winning numerous BAFTA, RTS and Broadcast Awards for outstanding children’s and family drama. Her successes included include Kidnapped, Feather Boy, Fungus the Bogeyman and Tracey Beaker Movie of Me. Her production of Stig of the Dump won the International Emmy.

She joined the BBC from Buena Vista Productions and the Disney Channel after the successful BBC/Disney co-production of Microsoap, created by award-winning writer Mark Haddon.

Previously Elaine was Vice President of Production at HBO Pictures in the US, producing the HBO movies Perfect Witness and Framed. She also produced the Walt Disney feature film A Far off Place with Reese Witherspoon, based on the novels of Sir Laurence Van der Post.

She has lived in London for the past 15 years.
