Colin Mckerchar started professional life as a freelance journalist working both in print and broadcast media. In the early days this was not always lucrative and often this journey was interspersed with various other types of employment like gardening, forestry, hotel work and on more than one occasion, a number of DIY stores.
In time and with luck, contract followed contract and he eventually worked for 7 years as a speech radio producer covering, News, Environment and Topical Events before concentrating on Arts programming within BBC production.
Inevitably, a management role transpired and he has spent a further 8 years in a number of senior management roles within BBC in London, Glasgow and Edinburgh. These roles have covered Talent management , Organisational Design and Creative Facilitation.
In the last 5 years he has retrained as an Executive Coach and workplace mediator working both within Media organisations, a number of SME’s and within the third sector.
He is currently on a career break from BBC Scotland as interim CEO of registered charity Sistema Scotland.
