Chella is a Sheffield-based author, presenter, researcher, artist and the UK’s leading expert on menstruation education.
A former drama teacher and head of PSHE, Chella coined the phrase ‘period positive’ and founded Period Positive to use humour and joy to challenge taboos, offering long-term solutions to period poverty and menstrual equity through the Period Positive Pledge.
Her 5-star comedy show, ‘Adventures in Menstruating’, has wowed at festivals, and has been featured on Radio 4 programmes Woman’s Hour and A Bleeding Shame.
Chella delivers training for organisations serving young people around the UK and advises on regional and national menstruation education and period poverty policy through the Period Positive Schools and Period Positive Places Award. Earlier this year she was a script consultant and featured expert on CBBC Newsround Special ‘Let’s Talk About Periods’.
She is also the author of two upcoming books about menstruation: ‘Be Period Positive’, a book for adults out 8 July, and ‘Own Your Period’, a children’s book, which will be published on 7 September.
