Cathal Gaffney is the CEO and co-founder of Brown Bag Films that he established with Darragh O’Connell in 1994. Brown Bag Films is a global leader in children’s animation with programmes currently on air in over 150 countries worldwide watched by more than 100 million children. Located in Dublin and with operations in Los Angeles, Brown Bag Films employ over 160 full time staff.
In 2002 Cathal was nominated for an Academy Award® for his short film ‘Give Up Yer Aul Sins’. Recent credits as Executive Producer include the Emmy Award® winning remake of Beatrix Potters ‘Peter Rabbit’ (Nickelodeon), the Bafta nominated ‘The Octonauts'(BBC), ‘Henry Hugglemonster'(Disney) and ‘Doc McStuffins’ (Disney) which has become the worlds most watched pre-school series. Cathal was previously nominated for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award and won the European Producer of the Year at the CARTOON Forum in Norway.
In his spare time, Cathal is a keen cyclist and photographer.
