Beth Wood is Artistic Director of Prospero, a company that specialises in educational and inclusive theatre. Prospero designs and delivers projects on Mindfulness, Emotional Literacy and Resilience in schools and colleges, using drama and active learning as a developmental tool. Beth has written plays for young people that have been performed in 6 countries, designed INSET programmes for Surrey Education and for 6 years wrote the drama activities for Longmans Shakespeare series.
Mind The Gap
In considering the 'gap' between mindful, calm behaviours amongst children and their rapid-fire media consumption, the panel will look at how young people’s lives have altered with rapid technological change and debate just how effective mindfulness and other ‘slow-down’ methods might be to children’s wellbeing while also considering the challenges to mindfulness put forward by some opponents. Do we just need to ‘get with the times’ or should we chill out – and how does media consumption reflect that?
