Director of Broadcast Media
Beth Hewitt is Director of Broadcast Media for the School of Arts and Media, University of Salford. Beth leads the academic media team across a range of postgraduate and undergraduate media programme where she promotes and develops key links, partnerships, placements, festivals and conferences with key industry professionals, broadcasters and production companies. Drawing upon many years of experience whilst working at ITV Granada and BBC North and prior to her current role, Beth lead the postgraduate media courses and created and wrote MA in Children’s Digital Media Production, the only one of in the UK, working closely with industry to develop this unique programme.
Much of Beth’s work is focused on enhancing and developing industry engagement and for four years she has led the Nations and Regions Media conference based in MediaCityUK, this year renaming it as nations and Regions: Media Future. Such events are student and industry focused on creating working partnerships and links between industry and emerging talent, they provide platforms for students to meet industry and visa versa, enabling networking for industry and new emerging talent. Beth has been a part of the RTS North West team for a number of years and contributes to their media events on a regular basis and she has also continued to supported CMC working closely with the CMC team and contributors.
