Modernising Kids’ Media: How Cartoons Can Forge the Path in an Inclusive TV Landscape

Everyone is talking about how to make media – and children’s television especially— more inclusive nowadays, but what does that really mean? Shabnam Rezaei is the Co-Founder and President of Big Bad Boo Studios, who has made a career out of producing animated series that celebrate cultures and families that usually aren’t represented on TV. In this video, she discusses her personal experiences in the children’s media industry and how creating authentic shows like ‘16 Hudson’ and ‘The Bravest Knight’ takes more than addressing who appears on screen. Learn first hand about her goal to ensure gender equity on and off screen and why she prefers the terms inclusivity & representation over diversity.
