Escapism or Empowerment? Children’s Media’s Role in Motivating ActionRead VoD preview
This session explores the role of children’s media in a post-pandemic world. The legacy of 2020 was a universal awakening to the impact we are having on the planet and each other – building back better is now firmly on the agenda of both adults and children alike, driven in part by the ‘Greta effect’ and its influence on young activism. This panel will ask: What role should media makers play in empowering children to impact their community and the world around them?
As the leaders of the future, today’s children will inherit the consequences of the environmental and social issues we have created. The panel will consider how media makers should respond and whether children’s media should provide escapism from big issues or educate and empower children towards action.
