Feel Safe at The Crucible

The Crucible in Sheffield is our new venue for the CMC and we want our delegates to feel safe and comfortable when attending the conference.


  • Face coverings are recommended throughout your visit.
  • As a courtesy to other delegates, we recommend that you take a Covid-19 test before coming to CMC 2022 and during the conference.
  • Please respect other delegates, keeping your distance where possible and be understanding that other people’s concerns regarding Covid-19 may be different to your own.
  • Regularly wash/sanitise your hands.
  • If you are unwell and/ or have symptoms, or have tested positive for Covid-19, please do not attend.
  • Please be aware that inside the Crucible it may feel a few degrees cooler because of the increased ventilation and fresh air flow in the theatre.

Covid Notices

  • We ask that you observe all COVID secure safety notices and instructions given by the Front of House teams while in the venue. When attending, the Crucible’s friendly, fully trained team will be on hand to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy their visit safely and in comfort. Please be respectful to staff.

Cloakroom and bags

  • The cloakroom is available only for people with disabilities and mobility conditions. Opening times are Tuesday 4-9pm, Wednesday 8.30am-8pm, Thursday 8.30am-4.30pm.
  • Otherwise, we ask that you bring minimal belongings with you as the Crucible are not able to store bags including shopping or suitcases.
  • If you are bringing a bag with you, this should be no bigger than A3 size.
  • The Crucible may carry out non-contact bag checks on all bags for security purposes.
  • On Thursday morning of the conference, may we ask that you leave your luggage at your hotel.

Food and Drink

  • Tea, coffee, water and lunch is provided with your CMC delegate pass.
  • Inside the Crucible you will also be able to purchase cold and hot drinks from the bar.
  • There are cafes in close proximity to the Crucible.
  • The Head of Steam will give a discount to anyone with a CMC badge and lanyard.

Changes to Advice

  • The above advice is applicable from the date of CMC tickets going on sale. However, there is the possibility of changes to the above advice and the possibility of changes to government advice up to and including the days of the conference in July 2022. We will give delegates as much notice as possible of any changes.

Refund Policy 2022

  • If there is a change in circumstances, the conference might be cancelled at short notice. We will try and give as much notice as possible. See here for Refund Policy 2022
