CMC 2019: Report – The Incredible Playable Lunchtime Show

An award-winning video-game styled comedy show where the audience take to the stage! The Incredible Playable Show draws on elements of clowning and improv. comedy to blend gaming with performance. Every person in the room should feel they made the show unique. Each performance is different and, with the audience as the stars, there’s no telling what might happen. CMC 2019: Report – The Incredible Playable Lunchtime Show

With a chance to become human buttons, take on the Power Rangers, zap each other with barcode scanners and play Pac-Man using inflatable toys, The Incredible Playable Lunchtime Show was a hilarious CMC innovation putting the audience at the centre and gives them the chance to unleash their inner kid. Takeaway: Everything was interactive from the start. It's a chance to unleash the inner kid. Detail: Dressed out on the stage with inflatables, coloured barcode jackets, everything appeared to be very interactive from the start. Game Developer, Alistair Aitchrson, hosted the event looking like ‘The Greatest Showman’. CMC 2019: Report – Playground

From the 25th June until the 7th July 2019, the Site Gallery becomes Playground - a free interactive exhibition for those aged 5-12 years (but everyone is welcome to join in!). This year’s theme is Game/Changers showcasing several iconic toys and games reimagined in exciting forms that encourage participation, teamwork and having a lot of fun! Takeaway: The core focus of Playground is to combine physical and digital play. Everything is suitable for a variety of ages, and can help bring young and old together. Manimation 2016: Report – Showcase 2: Interactive animation in VR – Feeding Titanosaurs

Detail: Peter Caddock showcased a demo of a VR piece Studio Liddell had been working on for the last month, entitled 'Feeding Titanosaur'. The demonstrator, Simon Smith, also from Studio Liddell, had a VR headset on, and what he could see in the headset was shown on the big screen. Delegates saw Simon’s view as he looked for a dinosaur, a 75,000kg herbivore eating from a tree canopy. As Simon looked around physically, he could see the whole 360º virtual environment. Simon also used his hand controller to pick up a branch and offer it to the dinosaur, which came towards him and loomed large on the screen.…

CMC 2016: Report – Playground

It's fun and games all week in the Playground – the free interactive digital art exhibition for children. This year a truly exciting exhibition called ‘Playground’ is being held in the Site Gallery to run alongside the CMC. Although designed with children aged 5-12 in mind, it really is a chance to play for both children and adults alike, and is filled with games, toys, apps and digital art. One of the main attractions is Dubit’s virtual reality room. Wearing a headset and headphones you can explore a Fairy Garden using wands to interact with the magical landscape.
