CMC 2019: Report – Staying Local
This session asked what is the place of local drama - in a world where the streaming ‘giants’ are able to throw huge resources at international stories? The key question put to panel experts was how ‘kid focused’ drama can flourish during times of change. Takeaway: Children need and have a desire to see their lives reflected on screen back at them. The BFI Young Audience Content Fund is a new funding stream to encourage producers to make the local dramas they haven’t been able to before.
