Will you BCre8ive?

Phil Parker has produced sessions on kids and family film at CMC for the last two years He campaigns for better funding for kids' content. He also runs BCre8ive - a virtual development workshop. Here he tells CMC how that works. Submissions are open for the next BCre8ive Lab: Deadline to apply: 4 April 2016 What is the BCre8ive Lab? You apply with your project – it could be a TV series, film, a game, a graphic novel/e-book, a web series – and then you work with a company mentor to help create a commercially viable project. On October 3, just before the rain hit Cannes, CMC joined London Book Fair and Walker Books at the Martinez Hotel to promote the return of the CMC Rights Exchange to next April’s LBF. Baroness Floella Benjamin joined producers, publishers and broadcasters from the UK and around the world in a packed reception which gave the TV community news of the Book Fair as a venue full of opportunities to partner with the publishing world and bring new kids’ IPs to the screen. Extended Deadline for the Financing Forum for Kids’ Content

CMC supports this EU-funded initiative which will take place in Malmö, Sweden, from 10-12 March 2015.   If you're a producer based in the UK with a children’s media project looking for financing and co-production partners, it's worth taking a special look at The Financing Forum for Kids Content.   By applying now, you could take your project to Malmö and pitch it to over 50 international financiers and experts, and 150 producers and distributors, followed by a series of one-to-one meetings. Around 20-30 projects in development are pitched during the three day event. BAAS Sold Out

News from the British Animation Awards (15th March) is that they are completely sold out for this year’s event. But There may be a few cancellations so the organisers suggest the keen should turn up at the BFI on the Southbank at 7.30 pm (half an hour before the start) when they’ll make uncollected tickets available. Bring cash or chequebook as they don’t have credit card facilities on the night.

Don’t be Square – Try MipCube

They’re calling the new initiative MIPCube and they’re billing it as the innovation lab for the future of TV - a two-day high-level live learning and networking event before MIPTV that creates new links within the TV industry’s community of game-changers. Peppa Gets Animated in Exeter

Our chums at BAFTA are putting on a great event at the Animated Exeter Festival. It’s a family-friendly look behind the scenes at animation house Astley Baker Davies who produce the BAFTA award winning Peppa Pig. Producer Phil Davies will be in conversation with CMC regular contributor, Helen Brunsdon about Peppa and ABD’s latest series Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom. The event is on February 17th from 2 – 3.30 pm and it includes a previously unseen episode of the phenomenally successful series. Tickets can be booked through the Exeter Phoenix.
