After two years of a global pandemic and social distancing, getting together at the Head of Steam pub in Sheffield at the First Timers’ Reception for drinks and the opportunity to mingle with like-minded people in the UK’s children’s media industry was a refreshing way to kick start The Children’s Media Conference 2022.

The room was buzzing with many conference first-timers eager to establish contact and have inspiring and meaningful conversations with individuals who share their passion for children’s media. Equally excited were the repeat visitors and veterans of the conference, who were seeing old friends and making new ones.

The CMC is proud of its reputation for being the most friendly and accessible kids’ media conference, but for the shy and hesitant to mingle, the games set up by the Reception team helped first-timers break the ice and initiate conversations. Attendees also got to meet and receive words of advice from key folk in the kids’ entertainment industry, who recommended we made use of the conference to talk to strangers. They also guided us on how to set up speed meetings to get actual business done and sell ideas during our time at the conference.
