Preview – Doing it for the Kids: Commissioner Conversations 6-12

Jackie Edwards is co-Executive Producer on the Commissioner Conversations at CMC 2022. Here she outlines the 6-12s commissioners’ session.

The Commissioner Conversations are back. But this year, bigger, better, with (literally) more theatre (have you seen the size of the Crucible?)  and with real live commissioners.

Join the UK’s premiere league of kids’ commissioners as they tell you a little bit about their platforms’ taste and tone, discuss ‘What Next?’ for audiences and ‘What Next?’ for their commissioning plans.

In the kids line up this year are panellists Paul Mortimer at CITV, Sarah Muller at CBBC, Chris Rose at Nickelodeon/Paramount and Ian France from Sky Kids. The panel is hosted by former Director of BBC Children’s Joe Godwin, who will ensure lively conversation, rigorous interrogation and very likely some wry asides.

We’ve not been together since 2020, so catching up with decision makers live and in the same (albeit massive) room makes this a can’t miss session. Find out broadcasters’ impressions of the last few years, what’s changed, what hasn’t, and what’s to come. This is a brilliant opportunity to assess who might be a good fit to pitch your hot new show for kids to.

The session is 11am-12pm on Thursday 7th July and will be followed by speed meetings at 12.30pm. The speed meetings link will be sent out at 6pm on the 6th July – book early for these 1-2-1’s to avoid disappointment!
