Celtic Commissioners & The Cash Stash
Creative Producer Siwan Jobbins extends a warm invitation to the Changing Channels: Commissioning Conversation with Celtic Commissioners …
With ever shrinking budgets, the canny producer is always on the lookout for new broadcasters to pitch to and new funding models. Ok, the tag line for our session, ‘Celtic Commissioners’ may be a little more dramatic than the reality, but there is money available for the right projects.
Our session will take a closer look at who S4C, RTÉ & BBC Alba are and what they’re about. We’ll find out what they’re looking for, whilst also discovering how various funds and pots of money can be accesses if working on projects for them.
For example:
S4C’s commercial arm is interested in new ventures and can invest in a wide range of projects and companies within S4C’s remit, including by taking an equity stake in each venture. Sioned Roberts from S4C will help shed some light on this and other Welsh funds.
Pinewood Pictures advises the Welsh Government on its Media Investment Budget, targeting film and television projects that shoot 50% in Wales. The Media Investment Budget is an evergreen fund of £30m to be used on film and TV productions filming in Wales and incurring Welsh spend. Could this be the fund for you ?
MG Alba has 2 commissioning rounds – do you know when they are and what they’re looking for ? You don’t ? Come and hear what Margaret Cameron, BBC Alba’s Channel Editor has to say.
With two National broadcasters in Ireland – RTÉ & TG4 – producing and scheduling content for kid – how can the BAI, section 481 tax break or the Irish Film Board help you create great content for kids in Ireland & the UK? As well as insights from Pauline MacNamara from RTÉ, Gráinne McGuinness from Indee Productions will steer us through the Celtic & UK funding model that she’s used for some of her productions.
The session will take place @ 2:10 pm on Thursday the 4th in cinema 2.
For those of you too shy to ask your questions publicly, you can catch up with Sioned Roberts, Margaret Cameron & Pauline MacNamara at the speed meeting which will be at 3:30 pm on the workstation mezzanine (directly above the registration area)
