After the happy events of last week, it is with much sadness that we have to announce that a well loved personality  in the world of children’s media has died.

Marie Chappelow, the children’s TV distribution expert who worked at Hit Entertainment and Parthenon, died age 43 on Friday last week.  She had been diagnosed with an advanced and incurable form of cancer.

Marie joined Hit Entertainment in 2001 and helped bring shows such as ‘Bob the Builder’ and ‘Thomas & Friends’ to television screens in the UK and across EMEA.  After eight years at Hit, she moved to Parthenon Entertainment (now Sky Vision) where she oversaw sales and acquisitions of its children’s programming.

After her diagnosis, Chappelow set up Every Day Counts in support of The Royal Marsden in Chelsea where she was receiving treatment.

Marie lived with Peter and their two children in London.  Her funeral will take place at 2pm on Wednesday July 9th at Golders Green Crematorium, in London.
