The official British mission to the Kidscreen Summit in New York (9-12 Feb) was a GREAT success.

Maximising the opportunities presented by the new animation tax breaks, 69 individuals from 48 companies joined the delegation and took advantage of some special benefits.

These included not only a discounted Kidscreen ticket price, but also a range of benefits such as a mention in the collective advert in Kidscreen magazine, a page for each company in the mission brochure (distributed to every Kidscreen Delegate), a swish evening reception, a top-level breakfast briefing by key figures in the US and Canadian kids’ media markets including Andrew Beecham from Sprout, Linda Simensky from PBS, Jamie Piekarz from YTV and the Frederator himself – legendary Fred Seibert.  The delegation also got the chance to meet other influential figures at breakfast every day – all exclusive to mission members.

The UK’s stand with its meeting tables, and distinctive Union Jack lamps was the talk of the delegates’ lounge, and business was brisk as the tables were packed every day – sometimes with two or more meetings taking place simultaneously.

We want to send a huge congratulation to the mission members for the collaborative way everyone pulled together to make the Brits look welcoming, smart and ready for business, and for all the business prospects generated – which first indications suggest will be of higher value than last year’s record figure of £19m.

Onward to Kidscreen 2015, with a bigger British presence and of course more of those sought after table-lamps!
