So Farewell then the MEDIA Programme – Hello Creative Europe
With a budget of €1.46 billion over the next seven years, 9% more than current levels, Creative Europe is the successor to MEDIA and the European Culture programmes.
It will allocate at least 56% of its budget for the MEDIA sub-programme and the main funding priorities will continue to be training, development, TV programming, distribution, access to markets and festivals. There will also be a loan guarantee facility to boost financial support further.
Agnieszka Moody, Director of MEDIA Desk UK said: “This heralds a new priority for collaboration and partnership in Europe, encouraging closer relationships to be formed between audiovisual and other cultural and creative sectors.”
And the first calls for project proposals have gone out already in a range of areas including games development, audience development and distribution support for film, training, European TV programming and slate funding.
