Keep Taking the Tablets
The School of Education at the University of Sheffield is staging an unusual industry/academic/audience crossover event as part of this year’s Economic and Social Research Council Festival of Social Sciences.
Date: 5th November 2013
Time: 09.15 am – 12.30 pm
Venue: Interdisciplinary Centre of the Social Sciences, 219 Portobello, Sheffield
The event will take the form of a short seminar on the research findings of a study into how 0-3 year-olds use story apps. This will then be explained in a simplified version to a group of 25 primary school aged children.
The second part of the workshop will allow the participating industry professionals to work with a couple of the children to produce a short piece of animation on ipads in response to what they have heard – facilitated by a professional artist and animator.
This is a unique chance for industry professionals involved in app production/ design etc to have the chance to speak first hand with young children about this topic while also being briefed about an academic research project.
The University is looking for up to 10 people from industry to come and participate in the event.
