Making vegetables talk!
I’m Jon Hancock – I’ll be blogging at this year’s CMC.
Your emergency exits are … Hmm, maybe not. I’ve been at the Beeb for 12 years – working my way up the ranks within the Children’s department across CBBC and CBeebies. Now at the dizzying height of Series Producer, I’ve been spending the last couple of years making vegetables talk in the joyously bunting-tastic Mr Bloom’s Nursery. It’s a hoot to make – wonderful team, and I don’t care what you say, Ben Faulks (Mr Bloom himself) is the nicest bloke in telly. That Mumsnet readers find him the tinciest bit attractive isn’t something that I’m going to exploit TOO much this summer as we film the new series – a huge undertaking as we hit the road and head out around the UK, in collaboration with BBC Learning as they stage 8 days worth of public Mr Bloom events. If we manage to pull this off it’s going to be massive!!
I’m a Dad of 4 beautifully manic children under 8 which, if nothing else ensures that A. I’m good at multi-tasking, B. the ratings for my shows are always quite good, C. I won’t be staying out late any night during the conference as this is a rare chance to SLEEP.
CMC2011 was the first taste of the conference for me and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in this year. For me personally it’s fantastic to get a kick up the bracket that Children’s content doesn’t start and end at the BBC. I love celebrating good creativity, full stop. Good stories, well told. Can’t wait to spend time with some wonderful creatives. Come and say hi.
