Festival in a Flash!

David Kleeman, President of the American Centre for Children and Media, presents the ever popular…..PRIX JEUNESSE WINNERS AND ALSO-RANS….here he explains how you can view children’s TV from around at 11.10am in Cinema 3, on Friday July 6.

It’s a festival in a flash – a legend that will last a lunchtime! The PRIX JEUNESSE Suitcase returns to CMC with brand new material from the June 2012 international children’s television festival.

In just 90 minutes, you’ll see excerpts from as many as 21 shows from 13 countries (depending on my editing skill and your ability not to sneeze and miss Finland).

From children with sharp objects to mesmerizing Japanese design to a missing
pet louse, TV’s big world for little viewers offers everyone something to
amaze, amuse, inspire, confuse, exasperate and enthuse.

None of us gets adequate opportunity simply to watch what’s out there, and
that’s why the PRIX JEUNESSE Suitcase has consistently been among the most
popular CMC sessions; it’s a holiday for your creative brain, in less than
two hours.

For a week every other June, Munich becomes the world capital of children’s
TV, as 400 experts from nearly 60 countries descend for the international
children’s TV festival, PRIX JEUNESSE. Given that diversity of cultural and
professional viewpoints, how can you know which of the 86 finalists are most
engaging and relevant to your work in UK children’s media?

That’s why we’re offering the PJ Playlist – otherwise known as Deutschland
Island Discs. We’ve asked members of the British PRIX JEUNESSE delegation
which single programme most stayed with them post-festival. Some recalled
great storytelling, some chose innovative formats, some opted for unique
visualization, and one wants you to see the most outrageous show overall.

You wouldn’t want to miss that, would you?
