A Date with CBeebies
Delyth Thomas asks…. Could this be the start of a beautiful relationship?
It is indeed a date – not of course anything dodgy, but a fun, informal lunchtime meeting for individuals to meet up and discuss development opportunities with CBeebies. The session was full to busting with delegates eating their sandwiches and crisps, and really quite a jolly affair.
CBeebies has masses of varied content TV,web, radio – the latter flummoxed me given it’s not on radio 7 any more, but it was announced that Cbeebies radio will now be online. If you are interested in pitching radio ideas (btw –keep an eye out for the details on the commissioning website in the next couple of weeks. http://www.bbc.co.uk/commissioning.)
With the move to Salford, CBeebies is keen to be more accessible to individuals, no more barbed wire, less of a citadel and more of a campus… ‘’ you won’t need to have a foot in the door because the door will be open.’’
They are keen to help formulate and develop ideas with individuals as well as established companies. This they’ve done with great success on shows like Show Me, Show Me and Mr Blooms Nursery, both ideas brought to the BBC by their presenters. Look out for a meet and greet session in Sept in Salford if you’re interested.
In the meantime, there’s a writing competition for CBeebies if you’ve a couple of ideas floating in the ether – closing date 14thJuly.
And lastly here’s the contact email address to send in that germ of an idea, after all – from little acorns….
