Some great new opportunities for newbies at the CMC

There are two new initiatives to encourage newcomers to attend this year’s Children’s Media Conference.

One is a BAFTA sponsored scheme to offer 5 free delegate passes to career starters, career switchers and emerging talent: if you’ve ever wanted to know more about the kids’ industry, then this is your opportunity. Successful applicants will have acces to all the conference sessions, a Wednesday Workshop and all the social events.

To apply please email regions@bafta.org by 15 June 2010.

BAFTA are also offering free public tickets for “True Stories About Transmedia”.

3.30pm 1 July 2010

Cinema 4, Showroom, Paternoster Row, Sheffield S1 2BX

This conference session offers an expert guide to the complexities of designing immersive story-worlds. BAFTA has a limited number of free tickets for this whichi are availabel to people who are not attending the whole conference – and you don’t have to be a BAFTA member either.

To apply please email regions@bafta.org by 15 June 2010.

Another scheme is spsonsored by Screen Yorkshire and offers 10 Bursaries for the full conference package. It’s a unique opportunity for Yorkshire based companies working in TV, film, interactive, animation, games, licensing, design and publishing to learn about kids’ content and the children’s market.

Successful companies will have a top level industry mentor to help them meet people and make direct contact with the kids’ media and entertainment industry during the conference.

Remember: you might not think kids’ content is your core market at the moment, but with BBC Children’s moving to Salford in 2011 – there are major opportunities not to be missed!
