Michael Rose runs Magic Light Pictures together with fellow producer Martin Pope. The company produces independent films and television, and manages the successful childrens’ brand, The Gruffalo, based on Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s best selling books. Recent productions include the Oscar nominated ‘The Gruffalo’ (2009) and companion half hour ‘The Gruffalo’s Child’ (2011) which each premiered on BBC1 with over 10m viewers; the Oscar nominated animated feature film ‘Chico & Rita’; and wildlife feature documentary ‘One Life’. Prior to forming Magic Light Pictures, Michael headed up Aardman’s feature film division. He was executive producer of hit animated feature films ‘Chicken Run’, and the Oscar winning ‘Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Wererabbit’; and producer of Nick Park’s Oscar winning ‘A Close Shave’.
